Skills, Food, & Traveling

I know, it's an unusual title for a blog post.

But guess who learned how to make pizza this Friday at work? It's so much fun, and I learned that I really like the smell of fermenting dough - or at least that's what I'm calling it.  My coworker was great, she taught me all the inside tips and tricks so now I can even do this...

... make fancy crust! It takes more time, but really, it's not like the deli where you always need to cater to someone. It's pretty great stuff, especially when you're allowed to make your own pizza for after work. A whole pizza?! No, I didn't eat all of it... only 1/2 of it! It was delicious and the perfect starter to the weekend.

To give you a little preview to my next post, THIS is where I spent my Saturday. Along with 8 hours on a bus. So worth it, stay tuned.

When I came back I found this outside my door. I can only assume that it was meant for me. And yes commentators, this haiku is winning and I do like it.

So that was basically my weekend rolled in a very condensed blog post because I'm finding it harder and harder to make time to update the interweb on my life. But more on that later.

Other than that I also consumed more healthy food last night by road tripping it to Sonic... and guess who had their Sonic gift card and got free tater tots?! This girl. It was great, but unfortunately I don't have pictures of this feast or the friends that came with it - so I guess you'll just have to take my word for it.

In other news it's Single Awareness Day tomorrow. Please go enjoy some chocolate while I break into an early morning snack of homemade fudge. Don't be jealous, I've been up since 6am so I think this is justified.

Tuna Fish

If I could eat tuna all the time I think I would. Alas, I cannot - I could only take so many cans back with me in my suitcase before TSA starts to become suspicious. That's a joke, I had to fit in my OTHER stuff too! But seriously. Tuna with a little mayo, relish, pepper, olive oil, salt, and red pepper flakes. Really you can add almost anything to tuna and it will taste good. Is it weird that I'm blogging about tuna? I don't think so. Why am I blogging about tuna? Because it's been my lunch/ snack (and it's pretty healthy!) and I just crave it all the time. Like right now, even though it's like 9 in the morning. The power of tuna. Just make sure to chew gum after. :)

Family Love

Guess whose grandma loves them a lot?

That's right. Not going to lie, I was pretty excited when I opened this. I think I can say with clean conscious that my hallmates were too.

^ apparently 'booger cookies' ^
thank you grandmother.

When In College...

... you have to take advantage of every Target run. Like this weekend. But really, how else am I going to be able to avoid Lane food? Not that it's really bad or anything, I just prefer... well, a wider variety of food than the standard - ohmygosheverydayisthesame - food.

And really, most of it is healthy right? Oatmeal people?! I get major college student points here.

Late Nights

So there's this place around here called Marty's Doughnuts. And they're kind of amazing. Marty's - as it is ever so affectionately known as - opens at 12am. For $1 you can go in and get yourself one bonafide, yummy, piping hot, doughnut. It's a big deal.

It even has magical rejuvenation properties! Notice how awake I look! And then consider that the time was 2am... ahh college.

Food.

Having a car is nice. Not that I would know right now, but I'm starting to have a newfound appreciation for my orange beauty at home. At any rate, Target/mall runs are quickly turning into times when I buy as much as possible just in case I can't get back. That's kind of a joke, but yesterday was definitely a successful trip.

my first tupperware set: i'm an official adult

look! health food :) look at all that green.

the stash. also healthy! for the most part... but do note the calcium pills, raw almonds, and good cereal.

i also bought my first spices - the makings of a great spice rack. ps: target has a surprisingly large selection of spices.

and of course... i'm so happy that i now have peanut butter to put with my apples :)

Korean Pancakes

One night last week I had the opportunity to eat Korean food! Apparently it was the "Korean Thanksgiving", but I have no idea what day I actually did this on... the days are kind of blending together... Anyways, the food was really, really good.

set up

mysterious food that I would totally make if I knew how to read the instructions

mixing. yes, it DOES look delicious doesn't it?

into the pan!

they were green tea flavored by the way, and that is why they are that lovely shade of green. but don't be fooled! they were actually really good....

and the best part was that there was sugar in the middle!

yummy.

Before I post more on my recent travels I have to share some yummy things that I am now obsessed with. Be forewarned, some are a little weird.

yes. it's backwards. not like it matters because it only says stuff in Turkish so most of you wouldn't understand anyway. it's a newfound obsession. like nutella, but softer, creamier, and not so rich. i'm literally eating plain spoonfuls right now. but it's also kind of good on toast for the less adventurous. the sad part? it's not even my biggest obsession. i actually found this hazelnut spread that i liked better when i was in Turkey. No coco in it so it was a lot lighter in color and AMAZING. but actually.

obsession number 2: lipton peach ice tea. i liked this before i went to europe obviously but it's just so yummy!

obsession 3: nescafe. so good! sadly i cannot find small individual packets, only large containers. so not convenient. bummer.

obsession 4: plain yogurt. it's good, a lot better than vanilla yogurt. but i like greek yogurt best.
