Inaugural Ball Time.

Last week was the inaugural ball! Preceded by a dessert reception, the evening mainly consisted of 'instruction' of basic steps in: salsa, swing, and waltz. Too bad I already knew all of those. Regardless, my roommate, who also knew all of these, and I showed off in the back. Then, motivated, we came back to our dorm, changed into comfy clothes, and then commandeered the lounge to try out some aerial stunts. Yes we had some spotters. The night ended with quite a few bruises and yet another disney movie. I highly do not recommend the movie "Atlantis 2". It was kind of awful.

The remainder of the weekend/ this week has consisted of homework. Lots of homework. But it's okay when you're in college because there are always study buddies. And there are plenty of study breaks. Nevertheless, this weekend I am glad to be taking an adventure! It's for my Discovery class and we are venturing to the WILDS of New Hampshire to climb Mt. Jefferson. I think. Regardless of what mountain we are climbing, it is safe to say I will not be wearing this lovely green number this weekend.

Sleepover Time. College Style.

So one time, at 12am in the morning, 6 girls decided to have a sleepover. Yes. 6 mattresses in one dorm room with unmovable furniture for a weekend sleepover. It's happening. We're not quite sure how studying is going to work out yet.

Kisir Attempt #1

Wednesday was a very happy day. My bulgar wheat came. From Turkey. Which means that instead of studying I made kisir. Because really, Lane food gets old after a little bit.

*** Conclusions***
1) Kisir is pretty much the best thing ever and I love Turkish food, even when I make it
2) My cooking wasn't a total fail
3) I should probably get all the ingredients on the list next time
4) You can never have too much seasoning
5) Don't try to cut vegetables with a dull butter knife
6) Hide food so hall mates don't take it - apparently I AM a better cook than I thought :)

This Week...

... has been the most hectic week ever. Not really, but it is true that I have not gotten much sleep this week. Apparently falling behind on one assignment really can set you back a ways. But no worries now, I'm all caught up. Also, homework this week seemed to exponentially grow from the previous week. Yuck. It will be admitted that I have spent 3 out of 5 days locking myself in our hall study room until 2am - and on consecutive days. It would definitely be nice if some teachers made assignments clear...
However, last weekend was fun, especially since it was a three day weekend, due to Inauguration Services. That time was mostly spent at the mall trying to find a dress for tonight - and playing around in ridiculous dresses like this \/

Actually, I really like this dress, but I found a better, much cheaper one.

At some point, I believe Sunday, we had another birthday! It involved sneaking around outside and then singing outside the given person's window.

There was also cake because there always is cake in our hall.

Did I also mentioned that my fish died? He died a while ago. Needless to say I was not that sad. I'm not even really sure what happened to him but I believe he was thrown in the boy's toilet across the hall. Surprise!

Friday Nights

Need another reason why our dorm hall is awesome? We spend Friday nights spontaneously ordering Chinese Food. Like a lot of Chinese Food. Because sometimes, Lane food just gets old...

Our hero (Sarah) who magically was out and got our food! Because, apparently Chinese food places only deliver within a 3 mile radius. Yeah, this is bad news when you're like 4 miles away and no one on your floor has a car. Like really, we did buy a rather ginormous box of food from them...

It's kind of becoming a frequent occurrence that the lounge is reserved for our hall. Like every night.

We're just that adorable.

We even pray together. Like really, how many college cliche's can we do in one day?

The Big 18

Wow. Three blog posts in one day - you all are really lucky. However, this one is really special, yesterday (today- depending on where you live), is my best friend's birthday! Finally 18 and a legal adult - scary.

Happy Birthday buddy :) I really miss you and I hope that Ke$ha was even better than this \/ concert, though, you know, it's kind of debatable.

Food.

Having a car is nice. Not that I would know right now, but I'm starting to have a newfound appreciation for my orange beauty at home. At any rate, Target/mall runs are quickly turning into times when I buy as much as possible just in case I can't get back. That's kind of a joke, but yesterday was definitely a successful trip.

my first tupperware set: i'm an official adult

look! health food :) look at all that green.

the stash. also healthy! for the most part... but do note the calcium pills, raw almonds, and good cereal.

i also bought my first spices - the makings of a great spice rack. ps: target has a surprisingly large selection of spices.

and of course... i'm so happy that i now have peanut butter to put with my apples :)

As Promised...

Well, it may have taken a while but here are some pictures of campus. Clearly better quality than the pictures from my webcam.

Note that there are not normally big white tents; yesterday was our new president's inauguration so there were some extra festivities.

Korean Pancakes

One night last week I had the opportunity to eat Korean food! Apparently it was the "Korean Thanksgiving", but I have no idea what day I actually did this on... the days are kind of blending together... Anyways, the food was really, really good.

set up

mysterious food that I would totally make if I knew how to read the instructions

mixing. yes, it DOES look delicious doesn't it?

into the pan!

they were green tea flavored by the way, and that is why they are that lovely shade of green. but don't be fooled! they were actually really good....

and the best part was that there was sugar in the middle!

Birthday Time!

Last Sunday we celebrated the first birthday of our hall!

This is Joy...

... to stall I did her hair for here. Decent right?

Then we decided to be reverse racist and took a white girls picture. Notice how I'm only 1/2 in it? Yeah. Apparently the photographer thought it would be funny. I've only known these people for a few weeks and we're already making racist jokes about each other.

Sunsets & Sandcastles

A story of yesterday, complete with pictures. Our Gordon Campus Events Council (CEC) put on a fun event yesterday! They provided the shuttles to a wonderful beach...

that was very picturesque...

and green...

and we built a sandcastle for the sand castle competition: but not just me, there were 4 others :)

actually it was more like a sand city. note the moat with goldfish, our fortress, the surrounding village, and our agricultural-communal land plot. Also, we made a drawbridge so....

we're pretty much the best dorm ever. E1E!!!

and we support LOVE...

and beautiful sunsets...

therefore we won the sandcastle building competition!

and so now, i have a fish called Edmund III.
